Regarding “A gun culture of death,” June 3, Page 27:

The gun violence problem cannot be solved from the supply side. Oregon has mental health red flag laws, gun transfer ac-countability and safe storage laws. Our school districts here in the Grants Pass area have either armed police, or armed school marshals. The districts have made continued progress in hardening school buildings. The goal being one way in and one way out to reduce risk.

None of that background check stuff can prevent a person from becoming a broken mentally ill person. The only way to prevent a bad action are people who love and know the person who is sick.
