Thanks so much for this timely article on the Northwest Catholic Bishops’ Columbia River Pastoral. I hope the article sparks wide and renewed interest in the pastoral and its still timely message. The pastoral retains its prophetic vision. I still firmly believe that the Catholic Church can play a convening role as it did with the pastoral. Such a role is needed now more than ever regarding ecological and environmental concerns, as Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si'” urges all Catholics and others of good will.
