Regarding Question Corner, June 3, Page 3:

I am troubled that we are told not to leave Mass until the choir has finished. I was taught by the sisters while I was in high school singing in the choir that Mass ended with the words, “Go in peace. The Mass is ended.” The choir then began singing and the priest and the congregation departed while the music was in progress. Sister explained that the choir sang an uplifting song for the people as they departed, encouraging all to take the joy of the Lord with them.

If the church rally wants the congregation not to leave until after the recessional hymn is finished, the priest should stay and set the example.

We also should remember that critical judgment does not belong in church. God loves us all.
