Regarding “Life itself is my present this year,” Dec. 18, Page 14:
Causes of inequities in our health care system for Latinos with COVID-19 are troubling. Mr. Maldonado is described as an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who does not have health care insurance and has limited understanding of English. The executive director of the Oregon Health Coalition contends inequities in U.S. health care are produced by systemic racism, unintentional implicit biases and discriminatory practices. Perhaps.
Alternatively, this article gives us a roadmap to improve those inequities: comply with immigration laws, learn the English language and obtain health care insurance.

This "roadmap" isn't too clear. What are the current immigration laws and how does one comply with or enforce them? Where does an undocumented individual go to learn English? How is an undocumented individual supposed to obtain health care when millions of citizens still can't afford it?
