Regarding “The Vote,” Oct. 16, Page 4:

The U.S. Catholic bishops’ statement declares, “We do not intend to tell Catholics whom to vote for or against.” After reading the excerpts of their document, I have to say the bishops aren’t kidding. As a guide for Catholic voters it’s as clear as mud. It states that “the threat of abortion remains our preeminent priority.” OK. Good.

But further down it declares, “as Catholics we are not single issue voters.”

Huh? If abortion is preeminent, why not be a single issue voter?

The statement from the USCCB seems to be all things to all people and if you wish to vote for a pro-abortion candidate or party, this document gives you cover.
