In what they call “Mugs of Love,” wonderful students from St. Mary’s Academy in Portland brought boxes of mugs to the St. Francis Dining Hall before Christmas. Because of their service, the dining hall no longer needs to buy paper cups for the hundreds of cups of coffee served every week. This means less expense and less environmental impact.

It also ensures that the unsheltered and food-scarce community has some dignity when being served a hot drink. The guests feel the hospitality, love and dignity that a ceramic mug gives. They smile as they wrap their tired, cold hands around a warm mug.
