Regarding “Thankful for true riches,” Nov. 16, Page 27:

You missed the mark with this editorial. Labeling all preachers of the prosperity gospel as hucksters is convenient, but inaccurate. I regularly watch the Rev. Joel Osteen on television and find many of his ongoing themes very uplifting and spiritual. The themes include: doing your best to discover, maximize and utilize your God-given talents; prayerfully, positively and persistently overcoming adversity to pursue your destiny; and having faith that there are no limits to supernatural possibilities and outcomes God might have in store for our lives. In my life, personally positive messages and themes like these sadly have been infrequently preached from pulpits of the Catholic Church.
