As election season continues into full swing, we need to read and think about the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ admonitions in their publication, “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship,” listing the Christian values and personal characteristics candidates should possess.  We also need to review the candidates’ past actions critically. The bishops also stress that we are not to be “one issue” voters.

In that regard, Proverbs 25:19 caught my attention:

“Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking with a lame foot.”

This reminds me of several politicians, none of whom will get my vote.
