A trio of Oregon Catholic authors won kudos in the books categories during the awards ceremonies in June at the Catholic Media Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Heather Renshaw, a Sentinel columnist whose humorous faith essays also were awarded in the newspaper category, took third place in the family life books category for “Death by Minivan.” In the book, she explores how the fruits of the Holy Spirit might fit into and transform a busy parent’s life.

In the category for books on liturgy, Ken Canedo of Oregon Catholic press received third place for “From Mountains High,” his look at contemporary Catholic music of the 1970s and 80s, including the St. Louis Jesuits.

Another OCP editor, Glenn Byer, took honorable mention for “Unlocking the Feasts and Seasons of the Liturgical Year.”
